To rid your house of fleas and make sure that they do not return don't forget to:

• Vacuum the entire house and throw away the vacuum cleaner bag

• Spray or bomb the entire house, even rooms your pets never go into.
  
• Spot spray heavily infested areas such as at the foot of the "cat's" chair, or where the dog likes to sleep.
  
• If you use bombs spot spray areas where the bombs might not reach such as in closets and under beds and chairs.
  
• Spray or bomb your house 2 weeks from now to kill the newly hatched adult fleas which were protected in their cocoons.

• Spray the inside of your car and all pet carriers if you have been transporting your pet in the car.
  
• Dip or bathe your pet now and then apply one of our recommended products.
  
• Give every pet in your house a good flea preventative such as Advantage or FrontLine Top Spot until the end of flea season (Thanksgiving in our area)

Do you get the point? No matter how much you dip, bath, spray, medicate, or whatever you do to your pets, unless you treat the house you will not get rid of your flea problems.

Why is this true? It's true because 99% of the fleas are in your house not on your pets. The adult flea lives his entire life on your pet. Once he or she jumps on your pet she stays there until she dies. What is she doing there? She is drinking blood which gives her the energy to do her other task: lay eggs. What is he doing there....well you can guess that one for yourselves.

Your pet brings his first 2 fleas home. By the time you discover the fleas on your pet, thousands of eggs have fallen into the carpet and cracks in the floor. You're a good pet owner. You go out and get a collar or a strong flea medication. For a few days your pet is clean, no fleas. Then a week later, fleas again. Your cat didn't go out, where did the fleas come from? Those thousands of eggs in your house have hatched, larvae have crawled out, spun cocoons, and hatched out adult fleas. The adult fleas sensed your pet passing and jumped on to their new life long home. As soon as the female tasted its first blood meal she started laying eggs again. An endless cycle of infestation has started on your pet and in your house.

Ok, you've convinced me. What do I do about getting the fleas out of my house and off my pet?

FIRST TREAT THE HOUSE

All of the Knock Out products we dispense contain similar chemicals. The bombs are most convenient and most expensive. The spray kits are less expensive and are more effective because you can spot treat heavily infested area more thoroughly. The aerosol area treatment is the most economical and can also be used to spot treat heavily infested areas.

NEXT TREAT YOUR PETS

Start of with a good cleansing bath or dip to get all the flea dirt (feces), eggs and dead fleas off your pet. Next use either Advantage or Front Line for the convenience and effectiveness of once a month flea control. These flea control products will break the flea's life cycle. The Advantage and Front Line will kill all the fleas on your pet within 24 hours and keep killing them for a whole month.

FINALLY TREAT THE HOUSE AGAIN

The flea larvae make a cocoon. Nothing gets into the cocoon including flea sprays. After 2 weeks all the cocoons will have hatched out new adult fleas. At this time spray or bomb again with the Knock Out products. This should end your flea problem.
